Focus Coaching
Ideal for students who already have a resume and some work experience(s) but need help to strengthen their resume and coaching on how to apply for jobs in the U.S.
1. Set career goals and provide resume assessment.
2. Go over student's experience in job searching and identify the specific areas for focus coaching (resume review, interview skills, etc.).
Six-Month Coaching
Ideal for students who need comprehensive coaching on how to build up their resume and look for jobs in the U.S.
1. Resume Review
Provide feedback on a resume draft.
2. Resume Improvement
Improve the quality of the resume through video/telephone sessions and email exchanges. Go over experience and activities from high school to ensure all the relevant information is included.
3. Preparing for Job Applications
Find out about the on-campus recruiting cycle, how to effectively apply to job postings, how to stand out in career fairs and informational sessions, how to keep track of job applications, when to write cover letters, etc.
4. Preparing for Interviews
Learn about how to prepare for phone and on-site interviews through mock interview sessions, how to respond to a recruiter, how to create a “cheat sheet” for phone interviews, how to look up your interviewers, how to respond to common interview questions, what to do if you don’t know, how to research the job and the company, how much detail is appropriate, etc.
5. Responding to Job Offers
Prepare to negotiate salary, dateline, start date, etc., how to bring up competing offers and/or other in-progress interviews, etc.
6. Service During Internship
Turning the internship to a full-time job: how to have a candid discussion with the manager, informational interviews with other managers, how to prepare for intern presentations, etc.
